Dr. Gunn was born and raised in St. George, Utah. His childhood was dominated by three main factors: family, baseball, and chiropractic.
His parents had moved to the desert of Southern Utah in order to join the family business. Dr. Harold Wallace Gunn - Mark's grandfather - had a thriving practice going and welcomed his son Dr. Spencer Homer Gunn happily. Gunn Chiropractic flourished under their care.
Along with his seven siblings, Dr. Mark Gunn was adjusted, fed fresh food, and shooed outside regularly. He and his five brothers and two sisters scuffled and chased each other up and down the red-walled canyons, coming together to hike, hunt, fish ... and play baseball.
Dr. Gunn pitched and played middle infield throughout high school and college, just missing the state championship ... and yes, it still stings. He then served a religious mission for the LDS church in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he lived for two years and developed a strong love of faith, the Spanish language, and empanadas. (Recipes are welcome.)
When he returned home, his oldest brother had joined Gunn Chiropractic as its newest doctor, and another brother had begun chiropractic school. Dr. Mark felt his lifetime of experience pull him the same way, and headed north to Utah State University to begin his own professional career as a healer.

Marion grew up in El Paso, Texas. She moved to Utah for school, completing college at BYU. She then moved to Salt Lake City, where she fell in love and began her family. Marion raised five children, then began massage therapy school.
Her massage therapy career started at a fitness center. She has worked in various locations since, building her clientele and gaining experience. Today at The Works, Marion is a force of calm and peace, and uses her extensive experience to give her clients a complete package.
Marion prides herself in being very detail-oriented. She spends time working on each muscle from one end to the other, moving slowly and purposefully. She combines many methods to create her own style, including deep tissue, trigger points, pin and stretch, and so on.
We have certainly appreciated Marion's steady influence and loyal clientele at The Works; she is a fantastic member of our healing team.

It was there that he met his wife, and the two finished school together and continued on to California. Dr. Gunn hammered through his doctorate program at Southern California University of Health Sciences, graduating Summa Cum Laude; 4th overall. Memories of treatments from his grandfather and father assisted him, and he was able to retain time-tested procedures while simultaneously learning the latest techniques.
Then with a hard-won doctorate and a growing family, he began an internship at Holland Chiropractic. At its completion, Dr. Gunn was asked to stay on. He worked endlessly to build a successful practice, and people responded. His logical mind, strong hands, and kind nature made him perfectly suited to this work. Together, the two chiropractors treated over 300 patients per week, and plans were made to expand.
However, even with his busy practice, the Los Angeles Angels baseball team, and the beach pulling them to stay ... Dr. Gunn and his wife had begun to miss their homeland. They kept their eyes open for an opportunity to return.
It came in the form of The Works Chiropractic.
On November 1st, 2013, it was his. Dr. Gunn and his family have thrown themselves into this practice; ensuring the people walking through those doors that they will indeed get "the works"; everything he has to offer. He utilizes three generations of experience in his chiropractic treatment, and is committed to continuing education in order to learn the latest in natural healing and wellness. He is certified in the Graston Technique; a procedure that focuses on deep tissue release, while increasing bloodflow and cellular activity. Dr. Gunn also certified himself in Kinesio Taping, which decreases inflammation and pain, and relaxes and supports your muscles and joints around the clock. And with his wife's doula business, Dr. Gunn sought out and attained certification in the Webster Technique, a chiropractic move that creates room in the pelvis and facilitates a smoother delivery. He has also attended several workshops focused on tailoring treatments to specific athletes of different sports; allowing him to get golfers, baseball players, runners, football players, and more to the top of their game. He will continue to seek out seminars and workshops to fine-tune these skills and add to his knowledge base.
It has also been very important to Dr. Gunn to meet other professionals in the Holladay and surrounding area, and has made a point to associate with all types of healthcare. He knows well what chiropractic has to offer, and which other treatments would compliment and enhance that care. Dr. Gunn can refer you where you need to go to make sure your body gets what it needs.
Finally, because he is a product of three generations of large families raised on holistic chiropractic healthcare, Dr. Gunn can tell you that this works. Chiropractic is a safe, side-effect-free way to ensure your body has the tools it needs to reach its potential. Come on in to The Works Chiropractic, where you will get it all.
